Winter Hammers Britishland

Temperatures are expected to fall to as low as -6C (21F) tonight after millions of people woke up to frost and icy conditions this morning – with snow falling as far south as Brighton and Devil’s Dyke in the South Downs of Sussex. The first flurries of snow hit high ground on hills in northern England, Wales and Scotland as November closes with an icy blast after the mercury dipped to below freezing overnight.

  1. But…but….weren’t we told with absolute scientific certainty and precision some time back that British children would never again learn of snow, since it would not drape the UK landscape ever again.
Would Fleet Street lie to us?

    1. That article got memory-holed a few years ago. They must’ve gotten tired of being beaten over the head with it.

  2. It’s going to be a cold winter. As I sit here typing this the temperature is -10 C. This morning when I got up it was about -2. Usual temperature for this time of year is usually hovering around the freezing mark.

    1. Pal, what’s your general location?
(If it’s Chicago, NBD; if it’s Houston, I’m fucking off to the Caymans.)

      1. Central Ontario. Yeah, I know, Canada. Just about an hour and a half north of Lake Ontario and close to Lake Huron. Been living here off and on for awhile and we only get temps like this in January.

  3. Devil’s Dyke, eh? Now they’re naming towns in Britainistan after losing American Demo…, I mean, communist presidential candidates? Who knew?
