From Pat Buchanan:
“We are an unserious nation, engaged in trivial pursuits, in a deadly serious world.”
Read the whole article, but his comment is true in many other instances as well. Think of Nero (the U.S.) fiddling away while Rome (the world) burns, and you’ll get the idea.
Buchanan has always been a horrible pessimist. Those of us outside the US and looking in see a powerful and dynamic nation getting better most of the time.
Buchanan has always made the mistake of comparing the real world to the ideal, and real people are clever hairless monkeys with a taste for bad girls or bad boys, fun & trouble and gin.
3 steps forward and only 2 steps back is a damn good year in the real world.
Enough of that, I’m here to thank you for the mid December link to Nigella’s recipes, which I shared with my wife. Notwithstanding her sneers about fat big boobed brit women (wife is slim) she made us the Trifle for Christmas dinner. It was smashing but I’ll have to diet for a month.
We conservatives that read history here in the US are witnessing an existential problem that bears a lot of similarities to the movie “Idiocracy.”
Leftists are obvious examples….but NeverTrumpers are proving the problem is not related to just one side of the spectrum.
