Oh, this is nice.
“Fair warning. Several community organizations are planning to shut down your showing of the Jordan Peterson propaganda film. While many of us aren’t Christian and some even flat-out condemn the religion, we do not want any harm to come to your place of worship or those within. However, we cannot allow fascism to continue to rise and will not tolerate its presence in our city, whether it is on the streets or on the waterfront or in a church. Read some history books, read about eugenics, read about sex and gender and then compare it to Peterson. Pray on it if you must. Do the right thing. As much as we joke about it, we really don’t want to have to bring out the guillotine to fix society.”
Way I see it, it’s a little difficult to guillotine people when they’re all holding loaded AK-47 rifles. But hey, whatever floats their delusional boat.
Still, if these pricks can label Jordan Peterson — who must be one of the gentlest souls on the planet — as a Nazi, you really have to ask yourself who, in fact, should be lining up for decapitation.
Nice church you got here, be a shame if something was to happen to it…..
Oh, please, please, PLEASE send a letter like that to the church I’ve been attending, where just last Sunday the priest was telling me he’d gone shooting with his nephew earlier that day, because earlier this year his father died and he (the priest) inherited “an arsenal” and his nephew wanted to shoot his grandfather’s guns before he left for the Coast Guard.
I’ll see your guillotine and raise you my M1 Garand and several boxes of clipped 30 ’06. Plus whatever the rest if the parish chooses to bring out, which given the above paragraph ought to be …..interesting. Hope someone remembers to bring a hose to clean up afterward.
Nice to see them actually ADMIT to wanting to roll out the guillotines though.
As James Lileks said: “Personally, I’m interested in keeping other people from building Utopia, because the more you believe you can create heaven on earth the more likely you are to set up guillotines in the public square to hasten the process.”
You beat me to your first sentence. That’s exactly what they’re saying.
Oh, one other thing, this little snippet:
“As much as we joke about it, we really don’t want to have to bring out the guillotine to fix society.”
Fair warning, we’re not joking. Bring out the guillotine, and the blood pooling around it won’t be ours, and I guarantee you the blade of said guillotine will remain clean.
These people (to use the term loosely) are starting to piss me off.
Well, the American Indians made a difference between “people”, generally enemies and other tribes, and “human beings”, generally members of their own tribe.
Colonel Cooper referred to the general criminal element as “goblins”, but “Orcs” might be more resonant with modern culture.
Nah, orcs were tough. For all their rhetoric, they’d shit themselves so hard they’d take off if they ever actually got into a fight. That’s why they rely upon government to get them what they want.
We really are far closer to true madness in our society than even my pessimism and cynicism allowed.
Upon further reflection:
“However, we cannot allow fascism to continue to rise and will not tolerate its presence in our city, whether it is on the streets or on the waterfront or in a church.”
Who exactly are these people to assert so arrogantly “we cannot allow”? What an amazing feat of arrogance to not just usurp the authority to arbitrarily declare what is and is not acceptable (in their terms fascism) but also to usurp the exclusive right to the first use of force (which is something our society has given to Law Enforcement alone) in order to achieve your ostensible goals.
If the pastor of said church has any faith or any loyalty to the truth, his response reads as follows:
“We are truly sorry that you have chosen threats of violence rather than respecting differing points of view. Totalitarianism is unacceptable to us and you have now made screening this film a matter of standing up for our rights to free speech. With that in mind, we will be showing the Jordan Peterson film as planned. The only change is that we will have a significant police presence and we will prosecute every act of violence and every threat made against the church building, the church staff, or any and all individuals who attend to the absolute fullest extent the law allows. If you and people like you choose acts of violence to thoughtful and constructive dialog, you will be prosecuted and you will go to prison.
Further, video of your actions will be broadcast via the internet as a warning to your fellow travelers that violence and intimidation are not how civilized people conduct themselves. You are not the arbiters of what is right and wrong in our society, no matter how much you like to think you are. We are not advocating nor threatening violence against any individual, you are. You may want to rethink the degree to which you are comfortable with totalitarianism. Your hate has turned you into that which you claim to hold in contempt. Do what you feel you must, but we will not be intimidated.”
wyseguy, you’re too kind, well-spoken and polite to scum
How about:
Fuck you and the horse you rode in on. Nasty message to follow.
