News Roundup

When will it ever end?

I always suspected something like that was going on.

this is going to end well, just not for him.

Dept. Of Irony:

guess she wasn’t really her best friend after all.

From the Josef Goebbels Memorial Wing:

And in medical news:

this being Italy, she probably said that just to protect her cousin.

From the Karma Is A Cold Bitch Department:

no reports on how many people showed up at his funeral, or whether there was laughter.

And from the Department Of The Blindingly Obvious:

and:

where would we be without polls and reports?

no doubt, the Jews will be blamed.  Again.

Time for INSIGNIFICA:

I suppose that means we’ll be stuck with the Kardashians and Lizzo forever.  Hand me the pills, Simon.

a.k.a. the “Frozen” Syndrome.

it might have been even worse had we actually seen Gaga’s well-trodden pudenda.

And here’s Marilyn, just so that everyone can see what I’m talking about:

Not even close.

Dept. Of Righteous Shootings

From several Readers comes this cheery little tale:

A suspected catalytic converter thief was shot dead by a concealed carry holder on the North Side late Wednesday, according to a source and initial information from Chicago police.

However:

CWBChicago has learned that the dead man was on parole, and he was charged with illegally possessing a firearm two months ago — but state authorities decided not to revoke his parole, and he was released back onto the streets.

Read the whole report.  Doesn’t look like Our Hero is going to be charged, though.

I have to tell you that I used to live in Lakeview, but East Lakeview (next to Lake Michigan);  West Lakeview was an extremely pleasant part of town back then, and I could quite easily have lived there had we not found our wonderful apartment when we did.  I guess the scumbags are migrating…

Apocalyptic Addendum

It’s a little late now, but Walter William Jacobson’s excellent anniversary essay is if anything even more timely than it was a month ago, and it simply adds a little support to yesterday’s Eucalyptus summary:

There is a rising tide of absolutism in ideas and enforcement of ideological uniformity that is palpable. I feel it in the air, even at Cornell which is far from the worst…
Even language as a means of communication is corrupted, with terminology manipulated and coerced to achieve political ends. It started on campuses, and it’s moved into the AP stylebook and the mainstream.
The press could stand as a bulwark against this slide, but it too is corrupted.

Please note that Walter wrote that in 2009.  Bringing it more up to date:

We’re in the collapse phase. You can feel it. There are no credible national institutions left. The medical field, the sciences, public health experts, on down the line are being gutted and losing legitimacy.
The military is run at the top by woke clowns.
Higher Ed is gone, K-12 is the last cultural battlefield. That’s why the teachers unions, the education bureaucracy, and leftist billionaire funders are fighting so hard and so dirty. What better wake up call do you need than the fact that you have to worry about your kindergartner being ideologically manipulated at school by teachers and administrators?
Collapse is not irreversible, but it’s happening in real time. You can feel it.

And then:

The backlash is building. You can feel that too. It’s not a natural state of affairs for people to want to live under such tyranny. It can’t continue at this rapid pace. Something has to give.

Still more:

But the backlash to the backlash will be to criminalize dissent and to intensify the cultural purge. We already see that the power of the state and corporations will be brought to bear.

Jacobson goes on to say:

I have so little faith in the people running this country at various levels that stocking up on long shelf-life food and other prepper-lite protections seems to me, for the first time in my adult life, to be one of the least crazy ideas.

I’ve done all that, and a little more besides.  So what’s left?

I’m going to sharpen my bayonet now.  A bayonet on the end of an old WWI-era rifle may be a stupid, old-fashioned and ultimately hopeless thing, but then again:  so am I.

Well, That Didn’t Take Long

Ah yes… harsh reality sets in once the Great Satan has flown the last helicopter off the embassy building:

Approximately one million children in Afghanistan currently suffer from malnutrition, the country’s Ministry of Public Health said Monday, Tolo News reported.
Afghan Deputy Minister of Public Health Abdul Bari Omar revealed the figure to domestic media on November 15, adding, “700,000 Afghan women … are suffering from malnutrition along with the children.”

And right on cue, we get the old 1946 song sung again, as we are asked to implement the Marshall Plan Redux, toot sweet:

The “foreign ministry” of the Taliban urged the United States Congress in an open letter published Wednesday to unfreeze Afghan government assets to allow them to govern effectively, asserting that they are a “united, responsible and non-corrupt government.”

Three words:  GO. FUCK. YOURSELVES.

Lest we forget, these same children were used by the Taliban as human shields against U.S. and other Western troops right up until we left the place —  disposable trinkets (just like the Pals do against Israel, speaking of loathsome Muslim assholes).

Now we’re supposed to get all teary-eyed and guilty because this so-called Afghan government is suddenly overcome with care and concern about the kiddies (such care and concern notably absent when it comes to whipping “immodestly-dressed girls” in the streets, but nemmind).

Go wave your tinkly little beggar cups somewhere else, assholes.  You asked for this;  now deal with it.

Or, here’s a thought:  collect all foreign nationals still trapped in Afghanistan and ship them safely to (say) Istanbul first, and then we may talk to you.

Or not.

And by the way:  I loved Audrey Hepburn, but UNICEF can also kiss my hairy African-American ass.  They can raise money from, I dunno, other Muslim countries e.g. the Gulf States or Saudi Arabia or someone.  We know that if Christian children were starving in their millions, none of the above — and least of all Afghanistan — would lift a damn finger to help them.

F.O.A.D., the lot of you.  Enough is enough.
