Reason #472
…why I won’t use Microsoft Word:
The function produces a purple line beneath words or phrases it deems problematic while offering more ‘inclusive’ alternatives, and is included on the Office 365 version of Microsoft Word from 2019 onwards.
Recommended improvements to your usage:
- Whitelist > Accepted List
- Postman > Postal Worker
- Mankind > Humanity
- Maid > House Cleaner
- Showgirl > Performing Artist
- Master > Expert
- Mistress > Lover
- Manpower > Workforce
- Heroine > Hero
For the record, I quit using Microsoft Office decades ago, for all sorts of reasons, among them:
- Word has too many features that I can’t, don’t or won’t use
- Excel is a shit spreadsheet program (Lotus 1-2-3 and Quattro were far better)
- Don’t get me started about Outlook, ever since MS killed Express
- None of the other Office products are of any use to me since I retired, and I preferred Paradox to Access anyway when I was still working
- MS Office is WAY too expensive for its actual utility.
So I use Apache OpenOffice, which while it has a few drawbacks of its own, is at least free (Writer and Calc work just fine for what I do), and Thunderbird for email.
I remember pointing the Son&Heir at OpenOffice many years ago when he was at college, and he found it worked for all his writing assignments and math homework. He’s been grateful to me ever since, and I don’t think he’s ever used MS Office (although since he moved to Global MegaBanc Inc. that may have changed, I must ask him).
So fuck Microsoft, fuck their wokedom and by the way, fuck Windows 11, for which I’ve started getting those irritating little spam pop-up messages.
Now Everybody’s Getting Involved
Where the hell were all you bastards when I was getting death threats and such back then?
Except that this take gives me an immediate Red Cloud Of Blood:
America’s feminized culture is the topic of Stephen Baskerville’s article, “Real Men Missing,” in the January issue of Chronicles Magazine. Over the years men have refused to step up to the plate and do the hard tasks that are often associated with masculinity. These include holding the line on moral issues such as illicit sexuality, profanity, and dishonesty, and showing true leadership in the family, workplace, and community. “American conservative men are now harvesting the fruits of [their] passivity,” Baskerville writes, as women have stepped in to fill the places of power that they have abdicated out of cowardice or indifference.
Baskerville, you cockless little dipshit. “Conservative men” were not passive in the face of the appalling slide towards the liberal abyss — but when any of us did try to stem the tide, we were vilified, our families threatened with violence and ostracized until it became almost impossible for us to live.
Ask me; I was fucking there, when academics like you were in the forefront of all the shit piled on us. I lost not one but two jobs because of what I’d written on the topic, and a little help from so-called conservative academics might have helped a bit. Oh wait, I forgot: there aren’t any conservative academics, because you gutless fucks were the very first to submit to the wokist left-wing brownshirts in our colleges and universities.
By the way, I note that this Baskerville guy currently teaches in Poland — I’m sorry, he’s “Professor of State Studies at the Collegium Intermarium” — probably because he had to flee the United States to a more conservative country which would allow him to write works like (deep breath) A Gentleman’s Guide to Manners, Sex and How to Rule the World: How to Survive as a Man in an Age of Misandry — and Do It with Grace.
I hate to tell you this, Prof. Baskerville, but the time for manners and grace has long since passed away. Gentility is fine, but it’s not much good when you’re faced with a lunatic holding a Molotov cocktail over your child’s head.
Anyone who wants to see the reaction of the Left to someone even vaguely critical of their precious dogma should just see the hatred and opprobrium heaped on Tucker Carlson, surely the most genteel and polite of the conservative commentators. I just wish that The View would get someone like Bill Whittle or Larry Correia to debate them. (Forget about me; the whole show would be full of bleeps.)
I need to stop now before I get really angry. I encourage everybody to read Baskerville’s essay in Chronicle (as linked above). He speaks some truths, to be sure, but he’s way off the mark in some of his other assertions.
Fuck all that. The time for gentlemanly, mannered discussion and debate is over, O-V-E-R. We’re going to debate like the Canadian truckers, gawd love ’em, or still more vigorously (TBD). The Wimmyns and Girlymen are not going to enjoy the encounter.
I Fucking Knew It
The Biden administration has disclosed that it possesses firearm purchase records by Americans that adds up to almost one billion, contrary to what members of Congress were aware of, on the heels of an investigation last year showing the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) has records on more than 54 million transactions.
ATF acknowledged in a letter to Rep. Michael Cloud (R-TX), which was obtained by The Washington Free Beacon, that it currently has records of more than 920 million gun purchase records. Cloud launched a probe after the outlet reported on the stockpiling of records, which he called a “federal firearm registry” that is “explicitly banned by law*.”
The agency has been transferring hard copies of the records to a digital database used to find guns related to criminal activity, even though ATF denies that its records are intended to track owners. More than 850 million of the records can be accessed digitally, the agency reported. The documents can then be digitally searched with optical character recognition technology.
Now that’s going to make you feel all warm and cuddly when filling out the hated 4473 form, isn’t it?
Thank gawd for private transactions (which, by the way, these gun-grabbing pricks are trying to make illegal, too).
*The Firearm Owners Protection Act (FOPA) prohibits ATF from crafting a registry on sales or owners and the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 1968 that registries are banned for gun ineligible Americans. FOPA states:
No such rule or regulation prescribed [by the Attorney General] after the date of the enactment of the Firearms Owners Protection Act may require that records required to be maintained under this chapter or any portion of the contents of such records, be recorded at or transferred to a facility owned, managed, or controlled by the United States or any State or any political subdivision thereof, nor that any system of registration of firearms, firearms owners, or firearms transactions or disposition be established.
Not that these fuckers care about breaking the law, apparently…
Just Remembered
…that it’s Black History Month.
So here’s a brief summary of Black History in the U.S., as seen by Black Racist Hustlers, Inc.:
Myself, I’d rather commemorate this guy, who did more for race relations in this country than the whole bunch of today’s morons ever did.
Aargh
“Well Kim,” you may ask, “how was your trip to the tax guy yesterday?”
About the same as your dog getting its temperature taken for the first time:
What I love most about the tax code for retirees is that no matter how large the “contributions” you paid into SocSec, you don’t get enough to live on when you do finally retire; then as a retiree, when you earn a little extra money trying to make ends meet, your SocSec income is taxed.
So how do I really feel?
