Dept. Of Righteous Shootings

Here’s how to be merciful:

A DeKalb County, Indiana, homeowner opened fire on four alleged robbers around 6 a.m. Sunday, killing two of them.

WPTA reports that the homeowner was asleep in his house when his dog’s barking awoke him. He then “saw three people in his home, later identified as 42-year-old Tabitha L. Johnson, Dylan Morefield…[and Rameica Moore].”

The homeowner claimed two of the people threatened him, allegedly holding a gun to his head.

After allegedly gathering a number of things to steal from the homeowner the robbers demanded money. He wrote them a check and was then able to get his hands on a shotgun and open fire.

His shotgun blasts killed Morefield and Moore.

He then walked Johnson outside the home at gunpoint, where he found a fourth alleged robber and held that individual at gunpoint as well.

Of course, he should have been able to whack all four;  but hey, I’ll take felony murder for the surviving goblins.

LOL looks as though you need more than four people to rob a house in rural Indiana…

Quote Of The Day

…and possibly for the ages, from Reader Preussenotto:

“Governmenting the problem only escalates the assholery.”

As any fule kno, I’m not into “verbing”;  but I’ll certainly make an exception in this case.

Update / No Update

As I have no good or indeed any news about the Comments / No Comments debacle, here are a couple pics of women showing off their respective superstructures.

Amanda Holden:

Kelly Brook:

Someone named Toni Garrn (no, I don’t know, either):

And Lana del Ray:

I hope this makes up for the lack of Commentary…

Going With The Flo

Florence Welch (minus The Machine), that is.  Here she is at some awards thing:

However, that’s not what I wanted to write about at all, but my train of thought was shunted onto a branch line by her rather striking appearance (and the red hair).

If you go to the article which features her and read all the way down to the category winners, however, I have this to say:  apart from Adele and (I think) Ed Sheeran, and apart from the obvious oldies, I have not heard a single one of the contemporary songs, nor even any song by the nominated artists.  Not one.  (I tried to listen to a Taylor Swift song once, but I quit before the end of the first chorus.)

Now, the songs may have been playing as background music at the mall or blasting from some lowered Honda Civic at the traffic light, but I certainly did not identify them with any of the listed singers/bands.

I think I’ll go and listen to a Soundgarden or Chopin album, or something.

Too Hot, Too Cold, Never Just Right

So much for the morons* entrusted with ensuring that Texas has uninterrupted electrical power:

With unseasonably hot weather driving record demand across Texas, ERCOT* continues to work closely with the power industry to make sure Texans have the power they need. This afternoon, six power generation facilities tripped offline resulting in the loss of approximately 2,900 MW of electricity. At this time, all generation resources available are operating. We’re asking Texans to conserve power when they can by setting their thermostats to 78-degrees or above and avoiding the usage of large appliances (such as dishwashers, washers and dryers) during peak hours between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. through the weekend.

If I were to set my thermostat to 78F, I’d have to have about three cold showers daily to stop dying of heatstroke.  JHC.

Did anyone actually predict that come the middle of May, Texas summer heat begins its annual upward climb to “Broil”?

Incompetent asswipes.
