Classic Beauty: Sophia Loren (1)

Let’s move away from the silent era to more modern times, e.g. Sophia Loren (who needs no introduction to Longtime Readers).  This week, we’ll look at some B/W pics, and next week, color.  Here we go:

A lot of the above can be right-clicked to embiggen… if you absolutely have to.

As the saying goes:  “I would lick the beach sand off her feet, and die a happy man.”  (I don’t know who said that;  it might have been me.)

  1. Meh. Sophia never did it for me. But that’s just me, replete in all my apostacies and heresies.

  2. A star that seemed to keep her true roots.
Her accounts of her mother draining the water out of a car radiator, in the midst of a WWII devastated Italy, so the children can get a drink are heart rending.

  3. Absolutely beautiful. I saw her in the Rome airport in 1971, on my way to Brindisi, was stationed near there. She swept through the airport, guarded by several carabinieri armed with submachine guns. The Red Brigade was active and she was certainly well guarded. I was star struck then and remain so. The one woman my wife allows me to fantasize about. She is at the top of my list of all time beauties, plus class, grace and culture. There’s just something about Italian women.
