Amsterdam is already joint first on New Wife’s and my travel bucket lists, and as if we didn’t have enough good reason to go there, here are a few more that we hadn’t considered before:

During Amsterdam’s Museum Night in November, museums stay open until 2am, and December and January bring The Amsterdam Light Festival to the city’s canals.
As the nights draw in, visitors should also take in the Christmas markets and search for the traditional brown cafes. (Nothing to do with Amsterdam’s infamous cannabis cafes, these Dutch pubs are famous for cosy interiors, local beers and warming winter stews.)

Amsterdam sounds nice. Austria, Germany, Poland, Italy and Spain have more draw for me though as far as Europe goes. Maybe Greece and the Czech Republic as well.

Our Canadian airlines are also quoting prices with fare and taxes broken out and displayed loudly and proudly.
Every time we consumers like something a lot, like travel, our lords and masters use the laws of supply and demand against us. They always have high taxes on high demand things, except for things like food, which they want us to have, so we’ll stay alive, barely, to keep working for them. They don’t give a damn if our lives are cold and uncomfortable and full of unnecessary work.
If you do travel to Amsterdam, try to travel with KLM. The standard of service is far higher than any American airline, but beware that they partner with Delta so make sure you choose a KLM flight.
