  1. Re: your Europellet carbine.

    IMHO consider the Beretta Storm Cx4 Storm instead. Sleeve the mag well and you can use either the Px4 pistol mags or the Beretta 92FS magazines so your peestola and your carbine can use the same mags.
    Even better, you can get 30rd mags for it (So you can look like some gang banging idiot with a a 30rd mag in your pistol…..oh, sorry about that, not.)

    And if you want a carbine that fires your truly preferred ‘Murican caliber, the Cx4 comes in the delicious .45 caliber flavor, which you can pair with the Beretta .45 caliber Storm pistol.

    Downsides – it looks like something Master Chief would take off a dead alien in Halo (which for some is probably a selling point).
    – the .45 line was discontinued, so you’re talking used market with it’s normal cautionary tales.
    – more pricey for a base factory model, used or new, than the Ruger, at least speaking from my own used purchases of the 9mm type.

    1. The Beretta CX won’t take High Power magazines anyway, which is what he has previously said he is talking about for a caliber change up.
      Which puts the Glock mag capability of the Ruger right back in center stage. Magpul makes dirt cheap yet highly functional plastic fantastic magazines.

      (However, if you’re not going for pistol to carbine magazine compatibility, do take a look at the CZ Scorpion as well. Factory 20 round magazines, but Magpul offerings for the gun are 35 round examples, and they are – like all things Magpul – dirt cheap yet quite functional.)

  2. The rule in our extended family is that adults will be given only consumables, like a bottle of expensive wine, whisky, whiskey or brandy, chocolates, even cheeses, something new, different , something the donee would probably like but is too cheap to buy him or her self.

    Like some pricey, fancy schmancy ammo.

      1. We still can and we can still bring up to 5,000 rounds per person per trip across the border from the USA.

        The gun bans aren’t working, and won’t work. I know several people who have ignored all the past BS from Trudeldumber, son of Trudeldumb and kept all their suddenly illegal guns. I know 2 police officers, one RCMP and one small town cop who laugh at the very idea that they are going seize any gun suddenly made illegal for no real reason other than urban idiot female voters. If they’re sent to look for illegal guns they intend to go full Sergeant Schultz and see nuzzing. The fish cops we talk with in hunting season take the position that they are provincial police, gun laws are federal, so we can shoot any damn gun we have and it’s not their business so long as we’re in season and licensed and using a proper calibre.

  3. Merry Christmas to everyone! As for gifts, you will love the Ruger. Ruger and Glock mag wells, several different models today. Chose the one that makes sense to ya. Mine runs flawlessly with Glock mag well. Mags are available everywhere.

    As for handguns, as soon as I move to free America (next month) I have decided on the new TAURUS 856 EXECUTIVE GRADE in 38 special. Really a beaut…for modest money.

I own one of the older Ruger PC Carbines (the PC4 which uses the P series magazines) and it is a very nice little rifle both for plinking and — with non-California legal magazines — a potential home-defense carbine. About the only negative I have is the massive bolt which is necessary to make the blow back action work reliably but also makes the rifle noticeably heaver than it looks.

    I;ve been told it works really well with a suppressor but have no personal experience in that regard.

    If I were to tote a pistol caliber carbine I’d probably pick a lever gun like the Marlin 1894C but the Ruger carbine does have some appeal.

  5. Kim, the Ruger PCC is my choice for a “Battle of the Bedroom” (Michael Bane’s descriptor) carbine. IMNSHO, it is Highly Rated. I can annoy you with its as-configured Bill of Material if you’d like.

    I’m very pleased with the RPCC, but there are now so many more good, competing choices (RPCC variants, AR-9s, Scorpion, Storm…) than when I bought. Good luck!

    BTW: Out of a RPCC, the Federal Premium 147gr HST is the Path to True Enlightenment: Barely subsonic out of the 16.1″ barrel, they’re *almost* hearing safe indoors when using a linear comp. (I am awaiting His Pedophilic Master’s pleasure to finally provide the tax stamp for the RPCC’s Hush-A-Boom.)

  6. Dear Kim: I have been reading your blog for a while now and thoroughly enjoy it. Keep up the good work. As for the Ruger, I have owned one for several years now, the same model as shown in the picture on your site. I really like it and think you would not be disappointed and certainly recommend it. I use Ruger mags in mine as I still own a Ruger SR9 and had several Ruger mags for it which work in the PCC. I don’t like or own Glocks, so no Glock mags for me.
    I put a Streamlight TRL-1 light on it and a Sig Sauer Romeo 5 red dot sight. The aperture sights that come on the PCC work well but the red dot is better, and it sits high enough so that the iron sights can be seen under the red dot, just in case.
    I am sure 17 rounds of 9mm hollow point on hand should make me well armed for home defense.

    Another Ruger PCC fan here .. I run mine in the “stock” config .. paired the carbine with an SR9c pistol to have a rifle/pistol combo which share ammo and mags. The carbine is heavy, durable, dependable, and a LOT of fun. I’ve had range sessions where I blew through several hundred rounds of ammo before realizing what happened. When 9mm was $18/100, that didn’t hurt quite so much.
    My carbine has a red-dot on riser which also allows me to use the irons. I have a few 10-round neutered mags, a LARGE collection of 17-rounders and just because, I picked up a couple of “brand-X” 33-rounders, but I usually load those with 25 freedom pills. When I’m feeling “gangsta” .. I pop the 33-round stick mag into the compact pistol.
    I might have to try the aforementioned Federal HST fodder .. if they run well in my Shield Plus, it could become my new defensive ammo. At present I use 115gr Hornady critical defense with the plastic ballistic tip.
    Moving to the revolver .. when I finally take the plunge, the Smith 586 variant (blue steel, wood grips, the way HaShem intended) with a six inch barrel will be added to My Collection.

  8. Regarding the PCC selection, I’m going to go against the grain here and suggest the CZ Scorpion. Mags are large (30-35 rounds) and cheap ($15-$25). I made a SBR out of mine, so no stupid brace to worry about, and the 7.75″ barrel is both handier than a 16″ barrel 9mm, and more than sufficient for the cartridge. Mine eats 147 grain HST loads like candy, and is perfectly happy plinking away with S&B 115 grain FMJs. I use a Primary Arms microprism with green illumination for an optic because my eyes suck and don’t like red dots. The grip is super easy to change out, and the trigger is easily improved from the 9 pound monster from the factory.

    I wish S&W would come out with such a carbine. Too bad they ditched the Thompson Center brand. I’d like one that takes the same magazines as a pistol or could take (gasp) Glock mags. I think the Ruger PCC can be modified to take Glock mags so you could have a 33 cartridge capacity. They look very handy.
