I seem to remember a time when the Dave Clark Five were supposed to be running neck and neck with the Beatles. Yeah, I never saw it either. Hermans Hermits and Paul Revere and the Raiders were better.
90 % of ANYTHING is rubbish. That is particularly true of popular culture. We remember the popular culture of eras past so fondly because, mercifully, we don’t actually remember that much of it.
Hell, there was a brief moment when “The Archie’s” had a chart topping hit.

One of the disservices the digital Revolution in entertainment is doing is, is that examples of truly dreadful entertainment will now last longer without the need to be popular enough that more copies of perishable media are made.
