When it comes to one-hit wonders, one has essentially two reactions:
- How the hell did they only have one hit? or
- Thank gawd they only had one hit.
Mostly, it should be said, the latter.
Here they are, the top 100 one-hit wonders.

I had a third reaction…….. Who????
Evidently I stopped listening to rock music in 1975 or so, I’ve never heard any the dreck that they were passing off as ” Music”. Based on this list I didn’t miss anything. I had to turn it off by the time they got to number 75. …. and the two pieces I did recognize were covers of songs that someone else made famous.
Yes, I listened to the whole thing.
Some pluses, some minuses, some I’d never heard before, some I don’t need to hear again.
At least one career cut short by an accident, some musicians moved on to other bands.
For whatever reason that made my day. Memories both good and awful
Now I know why garage bands only did covers.
