I’m guessing the whole scene would have been breath taking to them. More specifically, he was playing (or had at his immediate avail) 4 small keyboards. The keys they were used to were much larger “furniture” versions. All of it together would have been stunning to them I’m sure.
Best 9 and a half minutes of my day every time I play it.
I’ll stick to a tambourine band, any tambourine band.
Though my local FM station did play a bit of the overture to Richard Roger’s “Victory At Sea” this morning as a sign-off segment – best piece of music written for TV in the 50’s.
I’d love to hear what Mozart or Beethoven would write given today’s instrumentation.
