Watch as a family from New Zealand tries Texas BBQ for the first time…
…and if you don’t smile all the way through the video, we can’t be friends.
And they never even went to Hard 8 or Sonny’s.

Ah yes, they have a fun channel. I’ve been watching them off and on for a few years now. Their recent vids about their 1st trip to the States have been quite fun.
Always go local when traveling. We found some great restaurants while traveling. I’d love to spend a week or two exploring Texas BBQ. The last time we went to Kentucky we tried to have fried chicken for as many meals as possible. It was a fun challenge
Does the daughter go into a food coma around 4:41?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Born again carnivores.
Cooking must be crap in NZ. Here in Texas, a week without BBQ is like a day without sunshine.
Wait ’til these folks get a load of a sizzling fajita platter, or shrimp campeche, or a giant chicken-fried steak with cheese sauce. All washed down with a proper margarita or Chilton or a light Mexican beer.
what is everyone’s recommendations for Texas Barbecue?
The best I can find in the Northeast is Mission BBQ and Firefly in MA near Worcester.
See askeptic, below. The ONLY way you’re going to find Texas Barbecue in the northeast is if a Texan who knows how to do it right moves to Massachusetts, and that ain’t ever gonna happen.
I’m so close to getting in the truck and heading to Driftwood and the Salt Lick – 1472 miles away.
These guys are always fun to watch, and it’s educational to see America through the eyes of foreigners. Mrs. Bucket and I are planning on taking a trip to NZ in a couple of years and I’m looking forward to seeing how they live down there. The nice thing is that the Kiwi’s speak English – after a fashion.
Expect to be underwhelmed by the unbelievably bland cuisine.
Every single Kiwi I’ve ever met compares their cooking unfavorably to cooking everywhere else. Classic line: “Even the fucking Aussies do it better.”
That was delightful! Made me smile ear to ear. He will just have to learn to do this. I wonder if they have easy cookers there like The Pit Barrel Cooker.
