    1. I am one of those guys that distinctly remembers being handed a Mattel in basic training.. BUT that was 45 years ago. I know (again, 45 years ago) it had a forward assist as that is something I remember from the training. The guy in the video says no. Did I have one? Well, that is something lost in the mist of time I guess. I only remember it because I was a little embarrassed that my first real man killing rife was made by a toy company, lol!

      1. Just spoke to a buddy who was a Drill at Ft. Lenard Wood about 5 years after I went through.. He remembers it that way too. Says they were ordered to take them out of circulation and destroyed in the late 80s
