Things are quickly heating up in Chicago. Nervous Democrats are wondering if the city might come under siege by swarms of pro-Palestinian protesters and/or if they will face riots by extremists – with the explicit goal of defeating Kamala Harris. Public estimates are that between 30,000 to 50,000 protesters are expected to enter the city.
A vast coalition comprising of more than 200 Palestinian, Marxist, anti-imperialist and progressive organizations have signed on to join the “March on the DNC 2024” which is planning marches and rallies between August 19 and 21.
Meanwhile, Chicago authorities have opened a defunct courthouse to streamline arrests and have cleared 30 additional courtrooms if there are mass arrests, according to NewsNation.
The city has postponed all criminal jury trials scheduled for next week and “criminal judges from other divisions of Cook County have been asked to clear their calendars in case they need to be called into action to help process those arrested,” according to the news channel.

Being 60 miles distant as the crow flies or 100 by road, methinks the fallout will fall short of my location even though we are now invaded by the well heeled FIPs (Ef’n Illinois People) every weekend when the weather is nice. They too like to go to peaceful areas only to cause us locals to become severely miffed.

Ameliorating the rioting is why she chose Timmy Tampon. I’m convinced she went to Phili to make the veep announcement because she had already decided on Shapiro – the immensely popular governor of a swing state they must win. Then she pivoted to Timmy Tampon. I’m convinced it’s because she was bitch slapped by the pro-Hamas-kill-the-Jews wing of her party, warning her off the dirty Jew. “You think Chicago ’68 was a shit show? Chicago ’24 will make its predecessor look like Sesame Street if you pick the kike.”

The current mayor and Chief of police are way over their heads if there is trouble. Any pro Hamas group got permits to march, any pro Israel permits were slow rolled by the city.

Back in 68 I watched what the press labeled a “police riot”. I wasn’t there but from what I saw on our black and white TV was Chicago cops running around with their nightsticks beating up hippies. It provided hours of entertainment. Hopefully this time around we get the same. I doubt it, but keeping my fingers crossed.
I’m thinking (hoping) the hippies in the park that got beat up by the cops in ’68 will be the same people inside the convention grounds that get beat up by the pro-Hamas people in the park.
There’ll be at least some. I hadn’t thought of that. Delicious.
If that happens, and Chicago burns, it will be fascinating to see how the corporate media spins it as Mostly Peaceful.
Of course it will be mostly peaceful. It will be a smaller percentage of Chicago that burned down than burned in 1871. When the place was mostly made of wood and fire suppression was a new concept.
Nope, this time the cops are going to turn tail and run. Why jeopardize your paycheck and health for the idiot mayor? Really now, it is going to be a route and the invasion of the arena is going to be epic. Popcorn folks, lots of it.

While the prospect of a reenactment of ‘68 is beguiling, I won’t count on it. The Democrat panjandrums know this convention HAS to go smoothly, and while they have been bungling lately, they still have a good deal of power, if they apply it properly.
So the ‘68 reenactment party may fizzle. Or BE fizzled. We’ll see.
If it doesn’t, I will enjoy the fallout a great deal. The Democrats “nursed the pinion that impelled the steel”. So seeing them get it in the shorts would be hilarious.
