Dept. Of Righteous Shootings

except, it seems, in Honolulu.

Three people were killed and two others injured in a shooting at a home stemming from a dispute between neighbors on Saturday night in Waianae, a west Oahu community. The shooter was also fatally shot by a resident…

So far, so good.  But

…who was then arrested on a second-degree murder charge, police said.

And the cops’ response?

“In Hawaii, we are a non ‘stand your ground’ state. Even if you have a license to carry, if you’re an individual that discharges a firearm that is involved in injuring another person, … you’re going to be arrested.”

As RedState’s Jim Thompson points out, that’s not what Hawaii’s actual law states.  Looks like this asshole cop needs a swift ball-kicking  some education on the law.  Or maybe he just thinks he’s British.

At least Our Hero has since been released, but there’s no telling what will happen to him next.

Where’s the Imperial Japanese Navy when you really need them?

  1. I know nothing of this particular incident, but I can tell you that back when we lived in the Heart of the Hive™ of Minneapolis that the police had very specific instructions to always “arrest the gun”, no matter the circumstances. This meant that whoever pulled a trigger for whatever reason, no matter how obviously justified, would be arrested and booked.

You may have just shot somebody who had gone on a murderous rampage, had broken into your home and slaughtered someone in your family, with the trail of other bodies scattered up and down the block and the dead murderer still gripping the blood-covered machete in your living room, and you’d still be arrested and booked for murder. No exceptions.

Oh, I forgot. The only exception was for “the only ones”; anybody in the MPD or county sheriff’s office, or even remotely connected to law enforcement, would get several days to “pull themselves together” (get their story straight) while on paid leave. Us ordinary citizens (they love to use the word “civilians” even though that’s what they are, too) go directly to jail. Do not pass “Go”, and cough up thousands of dollars in attorney’s fees even though it was an obvious case of self-defense.

It’s just one of the many, many reasons we left MN to come to WY.

  2. A policy thoroughly approved and endorsed by the Dem Candidate for Vice-President of the USofA.
