Marking Time

Am I the only one who’s in a mood of suspension, here?

Of late, I feel myself facing the tide of daily events with a sense of either indifference or irritation — in the latter case, that whatever happens before the November elections will turn out to be irrelevant.

More than ever before, this election will be a watershed of some kind in this nation’s history.  If Trump wins the Presidency, perhaps he can do all the things — or at least most of the things — that could begin to turn the ship of state around, away from the looming catastrophe of Socialism that would most certainly be cemented in place should Harris and her Communist vice-president win.

I have to say that I felt the same way before Obama was elected, but not as keenly as I do now.

Is this what faces us, in the foreseeable future?  A perpetual cycle of eight years of socialism, followed by four years of slight correction, followed by another eight years of socialism?

I leave it to others — I have to leave it to others — to decide what happens from now on.  I am but one vote, one voice, and my age and failing health will prevent me from participating in what so many conservatives are calling a “revolution”, an upheaval so cataclysmic that for the first time in my life, I am afraid not just of that, but of the consequences thereof.

I have made all sorts of preparations, taken all sorts of precautions, but I fear that no matter what I have done, it will not be enough.

Isn’t that what’s been happening, our whole lives, at least since the Wilson administration?

We are, in many ways, hostage to history, but we must guard against learned helplessness and complacency. We also ARE history.

I think many are waiting for some sort of signal, akin to looking out the window to see if allies are massing the the streets. But that’s…kinda not how it works. If anything, we slid past that point without noticing. (There’s a lot of room for discussion on that one.)

The outcome of this election, either way, will not, and cannot heal our divided nation. Substantial numbers subscribe to mutually exclusive world views and first principles. It’s time to start taking National Divorce seriously, and the way to do that collectively is to begin disengaging individually.

    * Get your head on straight. Calibrate your moral compass, sharpen your reason, and attain clarity on who is friend and foe. Get real clear on your values and priorities and who has any rightful claim on you.
    * Get out of Blue Bastions. Pack up and git. I, for one did that 20 years ago, and I did not flee far enough.
    * Insulate everything that informs your safety, well being and fortune from their grasp.
    * And if all else fails and if it comes to it, have strong doors, and make any who breaches them sorry.

  2. Even facing the Leviathan of the Deep State, we are not completely powerless. It’s relatively easy to insinuate yourself into a municipal board or advisory committee (I’ve done so twice recently, just by signing up) and begin to exert some common-sense influence. Hang around some volunteer groups that make sense to you, and look for some like-minded people. Can’t find a group to your liking? Start one! My wife and I did that a dozen years ago and are now trusted influencers in our city. The future belongs to those who show up.

  3. No, you are not the only one. I have my theories about the power behind the throne(s) both here and in the middle east, but they are only theories. About the only thing I’m sure of is that I have confirmed my zeros out to 200 yds.

  4. We shall see. I hope we Will have 12 years of turning back the clock. Just have see how bad they want brain dead Kamala running things. Some states are ginning up the cheat so it will be interesting. Course that is a Chinese curse. If trump wins I fully expect the left to leave him with a running war. Just like they did 60 years ago.

  5. Fear? WTF??

Don’t fear death. Don’t fear causing death.

Both of those things are far better that being lorded over by fags, freaks and communists for the remainder of what natural life you have left.

  6. Showing up is good, even in Britland. After studiously avoiding my orc neighbours for years, I now make a point of pottering about the ‘hood for to see and be seen, and to take every opportunity to voice contrarian opinions. I talk to people in line at the s’market checkout – causes much consternation. As when asked if I “clap for the NHS” during the fake flu, I lectured about *only* applauding excellence. Am astonished at how often the orcs look thoughtful, even surprised, rather than put off. Some even return greetings now.

Elections will change nothing at the federal/national level for some time to come until the grassroots have fermented a new/sensible paradigm. Old farts have a role to play in that and there are signs of fermentable younger generations. Many just have not had the needed coaching. Wokes are best ignored – drives them psychotic and stroke-prone.

  7. You are not alone.

I am where you are, about a year younger, maybe, if that, so I’m not going to be any sort of “operator” in whatever comes, but I’m not planning on dying in my bed at this point, either.

This did not start with Obama, although I had the same feeling of dread you did at the time. It started waaaaay earlier. I hope this link will work. It is to a PDF of THE 45 COMMUNIST GOALS AS READ INTO THE CONGRESSIONAL RECORD, 1963

And this is where we are at present…

“America is at that awkward stage. It’s too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards.”
—Claire Wolfe, 101 Things to Do ‘Til the Revolution

I don’t know how to strike through the “but too early to shoot the bastards” part or I would.

It is hard to predict the future, but as it comes closer, and the communists make bolder and bolder statements about what they will do, you can begin to see some details emerge through the fog. I’m thinking Jaime Raskin’s comments about if Trump wins, Congress has to not certify the election under the 14th Amendment, get bodyguards, and then CWII begins. Ditto the comments of Hildebeast von Pantsuit about criminally prosecuting anyone circulating “disinformation” that sounds like Russian interference. Ditto comments by Attorney General Garland warning Americans not to spread disinformation about the election.

So here’s what I see beginning to coalesce on the horizon. Again, no crystal ball, but it’s as good a prediction as any at this point, and, IMO, better than most.

    1. They steal the election again. Why not? There were no consequences last time. AZ now admits their voting machines are hackable, but won’t address it until after the election. In the county Detroit MI is in, 93% of the poll watchers are democrats. Despite a few states cleaning up their voter rolls, ballot harvesting is still legal in many places and there are millions of illegal aliens who will be voting, you can bet on it. And the steal will happen again. Papering over the windows of ballot counting areas after locking out republican watchers, stopping of ballot counting for plumbing emergencies, all of that. They will steal it.

1a. In the unlikely event they don’t succeed in stealing it, see Jaime Raskin, above. They won’t certify Trump under 14th Amendment grounds.

    2. Immediately after 1 or 1a above, as soon as conservative talk show hosts start questioning it, the FBI raids on the biggest voices begins. I’m talking 2:30 a.m. raids with fully-kitted SWAT teams, and a CNN media truck with lights, cameras, and reporters to film the event at the homes of Tucker Carlson, Elon Musk, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity. Given Glenn Beck lives off the grid on his own compound, you might even expect a massacre there. All of this will be pour encourager les autres.

    3. The less influential folks, meaning us peons, will receive visits from the local Stasi after our complaints on social media surface. We will be put through the now infamous “formal deprogramming” Hildebeast recommended for us MAGA extremists. Would you be at all surprised if you learned the plans are in the works already for the re-education camps?

That much has become visible through the fog for me at this point, and I think their public statements are warning us about all this. Take them at their word. They mean it. After that, all is still murky, there is no way to tell how this will play out. But at least some local Sheriffs, and perhaps some state National Guard troops will be mobilized (Texas? Florida?) to protect the people from the Stasi in blue areas (Austin? Orlando). The rest of us in flyover territory will be on our own. How Jaime Raskin’s CWII plays out is anyone’s guess, and it could go any of a thousand different directions in a thousand different places, but it will NOT be pretty. That much is certain.

But, frankly, my Marking Time feeling, is that I think they may have won already. I pray not, but I’m not going to look at this through rose-colored glasses. It may, emphasize may, already be too late. By the time the frogs realized they were being boiled to death (as many are starting to realize now), they were too cooked to jump out of the pan. I hope I am wrong. I’m fairly certain about the plays laid out above leading up to and immediately following the election, but after that???

What I have not mentioned is what about all the enemy combatants already in the country due to the open borders of the last many years? That will definitely add to the chaos in unimaginable ways. Well, not unimaginable, but in ways too terrible to contemplate. Anyone who has read a few “One Second After” books or the “Holding Their Own” series, or others of their ilk know what I’m talking about. I see nothing clearly past November for the fog, but have that sense of dread, Kim articulates.

But Kim is right. Lay in as much supplies as you can for the coming chaos. I’d pull National Ammo Day up from November 19 to October 19 or earlier. If your guns have slept in your safe for a couple of years, get them out, refamiliarize yourself with their disassembly, reassembly, and clean and lubricate them before putting them back in the safe. Start moving ammo from the boxes to the magazines. If you have the opportunity, get to the range a few times and dust off your skills. And if you are too old to man the ramparts, like I am, as was posted above, be ready to make the Stasi sorry they picked your house to visit if they do.

Life is a degenerative process, none of us are getting off the planet alive. As I get older I realize the amount of life on the time line grows shorter anyway, and with two young grandsons now, I’m beginning to think about the country we will leave to them.

    Si vis pacem, para bellum

    1. It’s not pleasant seeing what’s coming (60 years of hindsight helps) and knowing when it comes down to it, the best I’d be able to do is be the guy left behind with a rifle and grenades to hold off the enemy until those more physically able make their escape. (Red Dawn? Guns of Navarone?)

It’s going to come down to this:

      Bon Jovi
Each night I go to bed, I pray the Lord my soul to keep
No, I ain’t lookin’ for forgiveness, but before I’m six foot deep
Lord, I gotta ask a favor, and I’ll hope you’ll understand
‘Cause I’ve lived life to the fullest, let this boy die like a man
Starin’ down a bullet, let me make my final stand

Shot down in a blaze of glory
Take me now but know the truth
I’m goin’ out in a blaze of glory
Lord, I never drew first but I drew first blood

  8. Oh, and don’t be a Luddite.

Get Signal. Learn to use it. Use it. It’s going to become critical soon.

  9. In 2012 I was certain Obama wouldn’t be reelected. How could he? They clearly were lying about inflation and unemployment. Most I knew were worse off.

But reelected he got. I nearly puked. We can be that stupid it seems.

I think we’re in for it no matter who is elected. We have an intercontinental ballistic stupid population. Look, what’s gas cost this week? $2.67? They are goosing everything so the griller normies and NPCs feel like 4 more years is better than orangeman.

Just because you know it’s coming doesn’t make it easier. Buy guns and ammo whilst you still can.

I’m in what’s turning into a purple city. I’m out. If I do it right, I can move right after the election and be ensconced in a more rural spot buy inauguration.

    Best I can do.

  10. I’m where I can hold out for some time (I hope) – far better than being where I grew up in SoCal.
As JC above said, prepare for the worst, and hope for something better than that – but, above all,
    BE PREPARED!

  11. I tried to buy ammunition and such whenever one of the Commies comes out on TV and lies. I was broke within a week.

I got involved with my state’s gun rights organization and network with like minded folks. that helps.

Get involved with a political campaign to put good candidates in office to stem the tide of this socialist advancement.

Get involved with the local board of selectmen or school board or finance committee in town. At least attend their meetings and keep and eye on those scoundrels

Study up on various topics to make rational arguments against the obvious horrors of socialism. write letters to the editor to various glorified fish wrappers we used to call newspapers.

Lay in supplies of food, learn to garden and become as self sufficient as possible. My piece of land isn’t conducive to that so I try to frequent farmer’s markets and farm stands to develop a relationship with local farmers.

Get out of debt as much as possible. sell unused gear, try to pick up a part time job. Shoot, stand at Home Depot and become a day laborer for cash if you can.

America was not built by folks sitting on the couch and it certainly won’t be maintained by folks on the couch.
