Fitting End

This headline was supposed to horrify me:

Executed murderer’s shocking final words before he was gassed to death as he gasped & thrashed in 19-minute ordeal

…but it had the opposite effect.  Why?

In 1994, he and three teenage friends killed and later mutilated Vickie DeBlieux, 37, as she hitchhiked through the state on the way to her mother’s home in Louisiana. His victim was hitchhiking from Chattanooga, Tennessee, to her mother’s home in West Monroe, when Grayson and his three pals offered her a ride.
Prosecutors said at the time the four teens took her into the woods where they attacked her and beat her to death. They later revisited the scene to cut her body 180 times, cutting off her fingers and removing a portion of her lung. Her beaten body was found at the bottom of a bluff near Odenville, Alabama on February 26.
A medical examiner testified that Vickie’s face was so fractured she was identified by an earlier X-ray of her spine.

I have only two regrets about this:  it took 30 years before this bastard was finally executed;  and his three psycho buddies inexplicably had their death sentences commuted to life imprisonment in 2005.  This should have been a four-of-a-kind grand slam.

Feel free to explain to me why justice should have been tempered by mercy.  It’s not going to work.

  1. I think that in cases like this, if the proof is beyond reasonable doubt – the criminal scumbag should be handcuffed and left in a room. The family and friends of the victim can then have 2 hours to do as they wish with the criminal scumbag.

Televise the show on streaming services (instead of fixed predetermined boxing matches) and use the money to pay off the national debt and also deport illegal aliens.

  2. Murderous rapist monster seen thashing and gasping as he died.

Hopefully in agony. Hopefully he was conscious for a major part of the thrashing and gasping as his poor victim no doubt was.

I’m immensely cheered by this news.

  3. They should have all received the ride on ole sparky within 30 days of sentencing. Once sentenced to death, give the case a 30 day review by a panel of judges. If the conviction is confirmed then ride ole sparky, sniff the devil’s exhalation (since we’re using gas chambers now), dance at the end of the rope whatever methods are handy

    1. Ride the lightning with a dry sponge.
Extra crispy please – I’m sure the taxpayers won’t mind a few extra bucks for the electric bill at the state if it goes to chair fried crooks.

  4. Death by nitrogen asphyxiation is not painful, nor should there be thrashing about. People who have unknowingly went into a nitrogen atmosphere (industrial accident type stuff) generally just fall over and that’s that. The thrashing and gasping are only because he knows what is happening. And probably the first 15 minutes of that 19 minute “ordeal” are just them getting stuff set up. Once pure nitrogen is introduced, people go unconscious within a minute and dead within 5. He was just being a big pussy, that’s all.

    1. How about a piranha fish tank.

Cut the criminal scumbag a few good times so they bleed a good amount and then toss them into the deep end of the pool with a cement block attached to their feet.

If the criminal is able to swim free – he gets freedom. No medical care if he escapes though.

      1. My understanding is that piranha attacks are not common and that the whole hype around that is just another Hollywood myth, similar to the dreaded fear of quicksand instilled by watching far too many Tarzan movies. Rope is organic and reusable, and trees are nice. Everyone loves trees. Hanging for criminals, helicopter rides for commies.

        1. almost. Metal platform in a building so you can build the thing once, maintain it with fresh paint and grease on the hinges. maybe the prisoners can maintain it. Just tell them that if it works well, then you won’t feel any pain and you’ll go quick.

Rope is cheap and reusable especially if you use synthetic. At that point though we could spend dough on new rope but that’s up to victim’s family perhaps

    2. He probably tried to hold his breath, too, and the last bit of that 45-90 seconds was entirely self-inflicted. As death occurs, there can be involuntary movements, but since consciousness is lost within a minute or two, so what? If that’s too slow, then the head-smashing guillotine (using an anvil instead of a blade) used in the series “iZombie” would be indisputably quick.

  5. > Feel free to explain to me why justice should have been tempered by mercy

Mercy is a sharp knife and a swift stroke.

  6. “Despite the brutality of Grayson’s crime, his method of execution remains highly controversial.” Are you kidding me? Death by Nitrogen has got to be the most peaceful execution method ever. TOO peaceful. Frankly, I’d have preferred to see all four of the bastards swing in 1994. Without a drop. Justice delayed is justice denied.

  7. I am against the death penalty because our justice system isn’t perfect (and will never be) and it’s impossible to apologies to someone who’s dead. But if you do have it then there’s a lot to be said for immediate execution. That is, the convicted felon is executed in the court immediately when sentenced; the judge pronounces the sentence and the felon dies there and then in front of the whole court.

My research for murder victim Vickie DeBlieux, 37 shows almost nothing about her.
MainStreamMedia focuses on the murderers, particularly the recently deceased scum-bag, with plenty of portraits and extended discussions about appeals and his execution method.
    .
By detailing everything the four murderers did wrong to get caught, I think the algorithms are intending to incite copy-cats.

  9. Upon conviction and death sentence, the bailiff walks the perp out back, makes them climb in a garbage dumpster. One round in the head and drop the dumpster lid closed.

  10. He probably was not conscious during most of the process. Industrial and scuba accidents indicate unconsciousness happens in 30 seconds or less. If there is little or no O2 in the mix, there will be no feeling of suffocation. Even though the heart my keep beating for several minutes, the level of O2 in the blood are so low that irreversible brain damage happens in less than five minutes. Final brain death may take another five minutes or so.

The time between brain death and heart stoppage, opens up a possibility for convicted murderers to do some good. Attach an EKG to the miscreant and as soon as the brain activity goes flat, flush the system and start back on O2. Rush the corpse to a operating theater where organs can be removed and maybe save the life of someone deserving of life.
