‘Twas this same Whoopi who declared on the TV bitchfest a.k.a. The View that in her opinion, Jill Biden should be nominated as Secretary of Health Services, “because she a doctor” — when anyone without terminal ignorance would have known that Mrs. Biden’s doctorate was not in Medicine (M.D.) but in Education, surely the lowest intellectually-ranked PhD outside Womyn’s Studies.
This ignorance has been extended yet again, when Our Caryn Whoopi:

Would it be crass to inform Whoopi that Her Majesty Queen Victoria’s (oops) His Majesty King William IV’s Government outlawed slavery in 1833*? And that future King Charles III and after-him William V have both offered royal apologies for their country’s use of slavery, several times in fact?
In the (paraphrased) words of South African protest singer Koos Kombuis**, “How much longer do we have to say we’re sorry?”
Someone should ask Ms. Johnson Goldberg et al. that very question — but the answer would undoubtedly be “FOREVER!” because otherwise who would the race hustlers have to blame for their shortcomings?

To be fair, the UK abolished the Slave Trade in the British Empire in 1807; similar to the 1803 Danish, and 1814 Netherlands moves. The Spanish only did something similar in 1817 when we gave them £400k.
The 1833 act made slavery illegal, and freed all the remaining slaves
So we weren’t that bad.
One more caveat – Victoria didn’t ascend until 1837. It was William IV in 1833

And the first political jurisdiction to outlaw slavery was the Vermont legislature on July 2, 1777. They also gave Black males the right to vote at the same time.

I believe that was New Jersey in 1776, though they later (1807) rescinded that and then Wyoming became “1st” after that.

His degree is from a very mediocre school, where he placed 76th out of 85.
While Britain may have outlawed slavery technically, and the RN was active in fighting slavers, the treatment of the people in various colonies was barely, if at all better than chattel slavery.
And Britain actively supported the confederacy, slavery and cheap cotton during the US Civil War 1.0, because the mills employing the poorest of the English and Irish workers would riot and end the monarchy if they were not allowed barely enough to live on.

Western Civilization abolished slavery, the United States fought a war over it while Africa, the mideast and asian countries still propagate slavery to this very day. In the mideast they castrated male slaves to end their bloodline.
