Gratuitous Gun Pic: Beretta Giubileo II (20ga)

Seen at Collectors, this matched pair of beauties (“Giubileo” is pronounced like “Jubilee”, which is its actual meaning):

Some close-ups:

And the only change I’d make is to get a proper “motor case” from these guys, to replace that gay-looking Beretta one:

(I know, $440 is a lot to spend on a gun case;  but considering that the matched gun package costs $20,000 it’s not a bad deal.)

To put this price in perspective, this matched pair of Asprey guns costs $40,000 more than the Berettas.  Let’s not even get started on the Hollands and Purdeys…

Alert Readers will spot the only fly in this exquisite jar of Italian facial cream is that the guns have single triggers.  But even then… O madre.

  1. You’re always looking for places to travel, why not Italy?

We were in Florence last October and it is still pretty nice, even though poverty, bums and societal rot are advancing there too. The local museums often have displays of old Italian guns, some really old. Maybe you could tour the Beretta factory, if they still have one there.

Or maybe just eat too much and drink too much Italian wine then stroll about to enjoy the sights and ambience and walk off the calories.

  2. Back in the day, I worked for an IT vendor that had Beretta USA in Maryland as customer.

I loved going there. The machines running, the smell of the cutting oil, the sounds of test firing. The people were nice. They were a great customer to have.

I’d sit in the conference room to do my paperwork. The walls were lined with awesomeness. Nicest guns I’ve ever seen.

Swear to God, You walk in that room, you’re knees would wobble and hands palsy as you look around.

That said, I think the primary gun made there was the 9mm. All I ever saw were 9mm parts being milled. Still cool. Fond memories.

  3. About 15 years ago I attended a Vintage Cup on the Orvis property in NY just by Conn. This is where really wealrhy folks gather, shoot, have diner and hand each other awards. Mr John Milius was there as he is known for his love of great firearms. Just smoking a fat cigar outside a tent. Fabulous perfect gun dogs lounging by their owners. Proper clothing. Trips to Africa and Argentina…

There were tents under which the bespoke makers showed their wares. 200,000 dollars was not the highest price I saw. Rich guys arguing about who as an engraver was better… But I was able to handle these beauties. If you have an oppty now after the Covid BS to attend…free to just wander about…pls do so !

      1. Sounds like a great time!

Orvis had an open house there several years ago. I think its called Sendona or something. Land Rover had a bunch of SUVs you could take on a small off road course that was very fun. Of course, a soccer Mom wouldn’t need such capability in an SUV and they cost somewhere around 70k and up.

They had a ton of vendors there for art, outdoor gear, dog stuff. It was a very fun event and the facility looked top notch. I didn’t spot any celebrities though. They also had seminars on buying classic firearms as investments and such, cooking fowl and game, etc. The prices on some of there gear showed that I don’t move in the same circles as their customer base. They also offer classes for fly fishing and clay target sports. I think almost all the firearms I saw were blued steel and fine walnut. Definitely worth visiting again.

  5. Those are truly works of art, and so precisely matched that they are numbered “1” and “2”.

  6. Why does EVERYTHING that is beautiful, end up being VERY expensive? Guns, Wimmen, Cars.

Who says the best things in life are free.

  7. I wonder if the gun case people will do a custom case…I’ve a repro 1st Model Maynard carbine that I’ve wanted a case for.

    1. Very high probability, as they like to encase notable weapons.
To commemorate the Centenary of the 1911, NRA commissioned Colt to make a run of 1150 bespoke numbered Series 70 1911’s in 2011, to be used for fund-raising by their various affiliated clubs.
I was lucky enough to win a package of two (2) consecutive numbered pistols, and called the Colt Custom Shop to see if they had a proper display case showing both sides of the two pistols through a glass top. They didn’t, but did provide a phone number of one of their suppliers who did make display cases. Called them, explained what I had, and was told that samples of fabrics and wood would be sent to me so that I could make a selection of what I wanted.
      These two Colt’s, # NRA 0600, & NRA 0601, grace my gun-room today.
I’d post a pix, but don’t know how on this site.

    1. Not only do I not know how to post a pix here, but seemingly cannot keep from multiple postings of the same comment.
      Sorry!
