It being the weekend, take an hour and a half to watch the story of how Porsche became a force in top-end “prototype” endurance racing once again (as opposed to just racing 911s in lower classifications).
Even though the video has been produced with all the pizazz of a corporate PR release, note the passion and dedication.
Then note that in 2025 Porsche will be taking part in Formula 1 as an engine supplier to and part-owner of Red Bull Racing…
This is going to be interesting.
Porsche prototypes have won overall in Le Mans 20 times ( remember the 917’s ) — more than double the next most wins ( by those red cars with 8 ) so a win by this new prototype is pretty much expected. More if you count their cousins Audi.
There is a famous poster that shows Porsche in 9 of the first 10 finishing positions with the headline that reads “Nobody’s Perfect”.
911’s in various forms have won overall as well as the usual Class wins.
Porsche is no stranger to F1 either with a win by Dan Gurney in a Full factory effort car and domination as an engine manufacturer with the Tag Heuer Turbo Engines. They also took less a successful run at Indy Car Racing.
So now I can sit back and enjoy the video which will no doubt go over the same info.
… and Audi has 13 wins overall at Lemans.

Mein Gott. I just finished watching the video. The Le Mans Grid Girls are in more dire need of abolishing than any supposedly sexist icon in history. Yee-uck. Extra-strength industrial paper bags would be required.
