Here’s an interesting thought:
Nine UK targets Vladimir Putin would bomb first as hit list is discovered by spies
Far be it for me to offer this dwarf Russian asshole any support whatsoever, but I could be persuaded to do so if his top 9 included the following (in no specific order, and by their nicknames mostly):
1. The Cheesegrater
2. The Walkie Talkie
3. Tower 42
4. The Shard
5. The Razor
6. The Gherkin
7. Lloyds Tower
Not all are tall skyscrapers…
8. The National Theatre
9. London City Hall
Or, if Vlad has such a thing as a Russian version of a MOAB, he could go for the grand salami:
Words cannot express the horror I feel at how London has allowed itself to become Dubai-On-Thames, ruining the wonderful classical architecture which made it unique among the world’s great cities.
I’m in a discord server with a Londoner and he posted this pic of the “Tower of London 25 years ago vs today” a couple of days ago, decrying the crappy new skyline also —

Kim, don’t worry about those carbuncles of metal and glass. Unlike stone, they won’t last.
Given enough time everything turns to dust.
My list is short: the whitehouse, the capital, the pentagon, the IRS.
Those 4 could vanish today and everybody’s life would be much better.
Make to specify that those buildings need to be fully staffed by their occupants when they vanish.
London City Hall could be called the Star Wars Helmet, as it has the look that would fit in one of those movies.
No hate for the London Eye?
“…this dwarf Russian asshole ”
He may not be Our Friend but he is infinitely better at his job than the current dweller of the blanched barracon.
.
I kinda like the Razor. The Gherkin would have been more aptly named The Dildo.
That, my friend, is a buttplug.
Anything’s a dildo if you’re brave enough. And if you’re sufficiently fearsome, it might also be a butt plug.
The Cheez Grater looks like it has R2D2 sitting in front of it. and tower 42 looks like it’s unfinished, with the remains of the concrete core topped off but the attached steel structure ran out of money 10 floors from the top.
Tower 42 looks like that, as it’s designed to look like the logo of the first tenant (the bank NatWest) when viewed from above. The stepped design helped with the 3d look.
those modern eyesores would not be missed at all
Lloyd’s tower & the national theater are the only ones that reall offend me. I’m a heretic that way.
While I agree modern architecture is awful, I sort of like the Razor. It’s clear in intention, and well executed.
While it is not my preference in design, it’s worth examining why I don’t like it, and an explanation.
The others are awful.
I would much rather see the demolition of nine plain glass boxes, selected at random. It doesn’t speak well of me, but when I saw the World Trade Center towers burning, my first thought was “this may be taking architectural criticism a little far” . The towers are now considered ‘Iconic’, but they were boring glass rectangles. Would I prefer to see a return to more classical architecture? Sure. But at least we are getting away from buildings that look like they are the box the building came in.
