  1. Yes we are, but not as badly as it might have been ironically thanks to Labour’s huge majority. A majority of this size means that Starmer will be able to ignore the hard left core of Labour MPs.

On the plus side we can look forward to Kemi Badenoch becoming the next Tory leader and if she shines then perhaps she’ll become the next Thatcher. And with so few Tory MPs many unknowns will be thrust into the light and maybe a star will be born?

On the double-plus side the SNP have been routed. Unfortunately the two local to me survived.

    1. That’s if they actually want to ignore the hard left. In fact, the hard left is about all there is to distinguish them from the Tories so that’s what they are likely to go with.

I just hope we still have a country by the next election. Given Labour’s plans for further “devolution” that seems unlikely.

  2. Can you explain the discrepancy in seats versus popular votes to an American who spent yesterday celebrating the fact we left that all behind 248 years ago?

    Thank You

    1. The British use a First Past The Post electoral system. So a General Election is essentially around 650 mini elections where the voters elect their local representative to parliament.

So if you imagine an election where two parties stood, and one won every mini election with 1 more vote than the losing party you would have essentially the same popular vote, but a huge majority for the popular party.

In the case of this election Reform had around 14% of the popular vote roughly across the country, but the elections were won on35% of the popular vote, so Reform didn’t win many individual seats.

The Libdems have very concentrated vote. They focus their resources on a small number of constituencies, so whilst their vote share is similar to Reform, instead of being 14% almost everywhere, it’s lower in most places, but higher where they have been campaigning for decades, so they have been able to win more seats.

  3. Hate to say it but the place where Great Britain used to be now seem to be full of shriveled balls, flaccid dicks, and easy access a**holes.

    1. Only if your an immigrunt…….

The rest of us are looking enviously at Kim’s ammo locker (no pun intended)

      1. In the US if we had to do the heavy lifting again, we could go 1 patriot for 2 commies and put a rather good dent in the commie population. I think in GB y’all going to have to 1 for 20 or 30 or so. Prayers sent

  4. back in the 1930s and into the 1940s there was a program to send the Brits some guns to defend against and defeat the huns. Is anyone launching a similar program to send the Brits some lube this time around? Or shall we just let them get raw dogged so they learn their lessons about socialism good and hard this time around?
