Here, Eve…

…just take a little bite of this apple (from my Inbox):

As any fule kno, I’m NOT in the target market (so to speak) for one of these puppies, but sheesh… it sure is tempting.

Doc Russia had the best comment when I showed it to my buddies on WhatsApp:

It’s a good thing that by the time I get my guns out of hock, this sale will be over.  And I don’t need yet another caliber in Ye Olde Ammoe Locquere anyway.  (Keep talking, Kim…)

  1. Damn Kim! Ever since you mentioned a “trunk gun” and I got on PSA’s mailing list I’ve been getting their emails and thinking about one of these; and not just because they sell functional flame thrower attachments. While I am only about a 4 hour drive from their nearest store, it turns out that they can’t / won’t sell in person to an out of state person (1000 word rant on federal interference of interstate commerce, Chevron, etc. etc. deleted). So FFL is the only option here adding another $75 to the cost. Idle curiosity had me look at how to get a FFL. Current “processing time” is listed as 2 months (probably much longer), paper only application, and they check local zoning laws also. That doesn’t effect me, but really? Chevron much? I’m guessing that won’t be fixed in my lifetime.

TBH, I had been rather non-plussed about these for a long time. Then I started researching them and I can see the appeal. “Trunk gun” status would argue for a smaller “pistol” AR with the now legal pistol brace, but with a long enough upper to avoid accidentally making a SBR. I’m thinking an upper chambered in 300 blackout would be about right, though that bumps the price up enough to almost be in the AR-10 area where the big boys play. For my old eyes, a red dot would be the way to go, though in the short run I could take the laser off my bow (don’t ask) and use that.

  2. the overlords in the state capitol banned these in their throws of a post Bruen tantrum.

  3. You can get it cheaper by going to the Daily Deals and buying the lower and upper separately. The same goes with their Dagger pistols. The Dagger is a Glock knock off.

  4. Had one before the tragic boating accident. Same one I lost a couple of Daggers in. Good value for the price. As noted above, PSAs products can be acquired piecemeal for less if you have that inclination. With old eyes and arthritic hands I went for the completed product.

  5. Yes, you will definitely want to steer clear. Not for nothing are they called “Barbie for men”. Accessorize. First will be an optic for tired eyes. Then maybe a sling. Oh look! You can get a complete upper shipped right to your door! Oh well, at least you know where to find an ace AR mechanic.
