So Much For Mickey

Here’s a tale of how to screw up a franchise, perhaps the greatest franchise of them all:

Back in 2021, the bottom began dropping out of Disney stock, which had been worth around $175 a share before Disney decided to hyper-politicize its movies and TV shows. Disney specifically targeted little kids for grooming with gay-themed propaganda aimed at sexualizing them and encouraging them to question their gender.

Additionally, Disney destroyed some of its most beloved and profitable Golden Geese franchises—Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, Willow, Indiana Jones, etc.—by turning them into left-wing propaganda videos obsessed with sexuality, race, and gender.

And the result?

In April the stock rallied to $123 per share, up from $91 per share at the beginning of the year. In Early May, Disney stock reached as high as $116. But all this year’s gains are now gone. Currently, the stock sits at just $90 per share.

It will probably sink still lower — perhaps as low as $70.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of wokist, child-grooming assholes.  No corporation is too big to fail, and I hope this one perishes utterly.

  1. Rumors abound that Disney’s association with grooming and paedos didn’t start with Iger and his woke crew in this century, but goes back much longer, even back to the 50’s or before. The somewhat salacious and tabloidy sources for those rumors are gossip and some read-between-the-lines Hollywood memoirs as well as the somewhat wacky MKUltra tell-all literature (yep, the CIA) that called out Disneyland as a special node in that chain of crazy. A few minutes googling will reward you with a treasure trove of bizarre and interesting stories that will probably both fascinate and sicken you.
My growing-up-in-the-50’s self would like to believe that the Mickey Mouse Club was a wholesome place (and that Annette was a goddess of purity with a great rack), but if we have learned anything in the past few years it’s that the juxtaposition of fame, money, and power with children attracts the worst sorts of evil bastards and never leads to good outcomes, especially for the children.
Is our entire ruling class dominated by commies, paedos, and satanists? Boy, you really hope not, but increasingly, it seems, that’s not the smart bet. Cf. the Olympics opening ceremony.

  2. Minor war, more like a long never-ending skirmish, going on in my household. The wife wants me to pay for the Disney channel so the grandkids will have something to watch whenever they come over (maybe one overnight visit every other month, for approximately 2-3 hours of TV viewing time, at a cost of WTF each month?). She also wants Netflix due to some shows she’s seen advertised. My response to both is

    a. I’m not giving my hard-earned money to pedophiles and perverts
    b. we’re already spending multiple hundreds of dollars a month on entertainment, I think that’s enough
    c. we need to cut our budget somewhere and streaming services are a luxury, not a necessity
and d. I’m not giving my hard-earned money to pedophiles and perverts.

I’d rather watch reruns of I love Lucy or just read a fucking book, but every night there’s a discussion on what to watch. Most nights we end up watching trash on ID channel, like American Serial Killer or True Tales of the Gestapo (err, Police). I’m just about ready to unplug everything and spend the extra cash on booze and hookers – definitely more wholesome in the long run.

    1. We cancelled all streamers long ago but recently signed up with AppleTV to watch the Slough House series. We’ve watched all 3 seasons of that and found a few more things worth watching on Apple, maybe another 2 months, then that’s going to be gone too.

We’ve been buying used and discounted kids DVDs to entertain our grand children, plus lots of free kids stuff on YouTube.

I’m getting most of my video entertainment from YouTube now too – there are lots of “amateurs” doing a much better job on news than the mainstream media and massive amounts of free music.

Plus, back to reading a lot.

  3. Star Wars in 1977 is my earliest childhood memory and many of my memories of my biological father (who died when I was 8) involved Star Wars. I was a life long fan up until a couple years ago.

This whole situation with Disney is proof that Critical Social Justice is a religion. Just like Chick-fil-a is willing to take the hit for lost sales on Sunday, Disney is willing to take the hit in order to remain faithful to their religion. Look for the stock to continue to fall and neither the board, nor the shareholders that are left will lift a finger. The war over Disney being a for profit company is over and Black Rock and Vanguard won.
