Good thing this didn’t happen in London: nobody would have had a knife.

NYC is almost as bad as London about knives, there are people sitting in jail right now for carrying Swiss Army knives because the blades were loose enough to flip open one-handed, fitting the legal definition of a switchblade.
Besides, the cop probably used his throw-down knife.
I read once that the NYC cops’ definition of “flip open” includes “using a wrench”. That is, if they can *make* it open in any way that doesn’t involve undoing a safety lock, it’s a “gravity blade”.
No, they would have had machetes and would have tried to cut the neck.
