From EPA Head Guy Lee Zeldin:
The EPA will continue to protect human health and the environment while unleashing America’s full potential. That means reconsidering the regulations that have restricted every sector of the economy, such as the illegal Clean Power Plan 2.0, Mercury and Air Toxics Standards, and Particulate Matter 2.5 levels. Under President Trump guidance, the EPA also has ended the electric-vehicle mandate that threatened to destroy America’s auto industry and made cars cost more. Instead of forcing Americans to buy expensive vehicles they neither want nor can keep powered up, we are restoring choice to consumers and bringing automaking jobs back home in line with our Great American Comeback initiative. This commitment to our manufacturing base contrasts with Biden administration policies that shipped jobs overseas.
What was that? Sorry, I couldn’t hear you over the sound of big American-made engines revving…
Just the other day I noticed that Elon Musk and Tesla were no longer being described as Electric cars, apparently the word had gone out. Teslas are now ” Luxury Cars” which is hilarious. If you have ever spent time in one, you would agree that the interior is at best described as “Spartan”.
……. and that sound you hear is automotive marketing departments searching their files for discarded Sales campaigns to update.
Long overdue. I heard an interview on the radio years ago with some senior nitwit at the EPA about some lawsuit. The EPA bureaucrat admitted that they knew they would eventually lose the lawsuit that imposed excessive regulation onto power generation companies. The initial judge hearing the case denied the power industry’s request for an injunction forcing them to comply while the lawsuit was litigated. The EPA twit figured once they got that win, the companies would spend millions to comply and wouldn’t spend the money to remove the apparatus when the ruling was overturned. In the bureaucrat’s eyes, that was a win. The EPA needs to be reigned in drastically
I’m thinking the Agency equivalent of hamstringing a horse. As permanent as anything can be in the American government when the big money wants ever more regs and ever bigger government.
when will these imbeciles realize that overall, these glorified golf carts are bad for the environment and dont suit the needs or wants of rational people?
There is not even one new vehicle on the market right now that I would find financially feasible and it’s been this way for a long time. It’s just a ride, not a house….
Anything that expensive should come with a basement.
I have a Tesla and finally have to address the repeated comments about them being “glorified golf carts”.
First off, I agree unequivocally that they’re not for everyone. Name one type of vehicle that IS for everyone, though. Does EVERYONE need a pickup truck, or a luxury car, or a compact? Of course not. EVs are a good fit for SOME people and not for others. I personally don’t need or want a pickup, but I don’t go around bashing them as being pieces of shit or their owners as being fools. Just because they don’t fit YOUR needs or wants doesn’t mean that rational people won’t decide that they do meet their needs or wants.
Glorified golf carts? Hardly. Prior to getting a Model Y last June my ownership history included a Subaru Forester, a Subaru Outback, a Toyota Camry, and a Toyota Tercel. The build quality of my Tesla matches any of them. Comfort, fit & finish, handling, and ride are the equal of any other car I’ve ever owned and better than some.
I realize that there are other factors involved in not accepting EVs but scorning them as glorified golf cards is just ignorant.
