More Worms Turning

What happens when the Wokists try to “cancel” you?

1,)  Despite having been nearly completely blacklisted from the country music scene over his use of a racial slur, Morgan Wallen had the best-selling album of 2021, outperforming the likes of Adele, Olivia Rodrigo, and Drake.

2.)  An online poll conducted by the staunchly left Guardian newspaper seeking nominations for “Person of the Year” has been turned off, sparking speculation it was shut down when author J.K. Rowling took the lead.

3.)  Officials have been forced to U-turn on renaming a road deemed racially insensitive after uproar from locals that it was ‘political correctness gone mad’.
Darkie Lane in Swanage, Dorset got its name more than 70 years ago because it was lined by elm trees and hedgerows that made it dark and shady.
The local council agreed to change the name after getting a letter of complaint from a family who holidayed in the coastal town this summer.

Read this, however, to see how far we have to go.

Brilliant

Oooh, this man is a national treasure.

A Florida man wearing red women’s underwear as a face mask was kicked off an airplane prior to takeoff – followed by other passengers who also got off in support.

He added that wearing the underwear as a face mask was intended to show the absurdity of masking on a plane until it reaches cruising altitude, when passengers are then allowed to remove their masks to eat and drink.
‘There’s nothing more absurd than having to wear a mask until I get to cruising altitude so that I can order Tito’s by the double and snack on pretzels, and illustrating that absurdity by wearing women’s underwear on my face sounds perfect,’ said Jenne.

THE REGULATION DOESN’T HAVE TO MAKE SENSE — YOU JUST HAVE TO COMPLY, YOU BLOODY PEASANT.

Victoria’s Secret, here I come.

Still A Classic

With FN/Browning no longer making the wonderful P35 / High Power, there is a vacuum in the Force as we know it.  (In modern terminology, that’s known as a “gap in the market”.)

Step forward Springfield Armory, who not only took over the 1911 from Colt many years back, but (thanks to Reader Simon M, who told me about it) now has manufacturing set up for the High Power.

From their sales spiel:

Made in the U.S.A., the SA-35 features rugged forged steel parts for strength and durability, improved ergonomics and enhanced controls, modern sights, an improved feed ramp design, and an increased 15-round capacity.  Configured without a magazine disconnect for a drop free magazine the SA-35 features a factory-tuned trigger with a smooth pull and crisp, clean break.

If all that’s true, I cannot find a single thing wrong with this resurrected phenomenon.

My only quibble is the “matte blue” finish:

…instead of the gleaming, shiny blue of its predecessor:

But that’s just my preference;  others may vary.  Whatever:

Daughter has been eyeing my High Power for years…

And the P35 is WAY too good a pistol — better still than so many others on the market — for it to disappear,

Nothing Wrong

Quite a rumpus has ensued following this man’s gentle reminder that private property is, in fact, private:

A homeowner has divided opinion by coming up with a unique method to stop people taking a shortcut across his front lawn.
CCTV footage posted on TikTok shows several people getting soaked by an automatic sprinkler if they get too close to the man’s house.

At the heart of all of this is the extended form of socialism which gives people the “right” to disregard someone else’s property rights just because it’s a “shortcut” (i.e. they being too lazy to walk an extra few yards along the sidewalk).

And if a mild soaking seems outrageous, consider anti-personnel mines, which ia what I might have considered in his situation.

Simple Solution

From this Niall Ferguson article via Insty (thankee, squire) comes a gem:

Last week, the Rhodium Group’s Logan Wright estimated that there was enough empty property in China to house more than 90 million people.

Are you thinking what I’m thinking?  Housing for 90 million dispossessed and poverty-stricken Afghans, Haitians, Venezuelans, Mexicans, Africans and Palestinians?

Could the answer be that simple?  Let’s hear the response from the ChiComs…
