I forget where I got this (sorry), but SOTI I saw this, as the mindset of the Deep Swamp towards us conservatives:

“We don’t like things as they are, and so we’ll make it really, really expensive for certain people to enforce their rights. We’ll make them fight every day for what should be rightly theirs for free. We’ll take away their birthright. We’ll screw with their businesses and screw with their wombs and screw with their assumptions about what the courts have guaranteed them, and some of them will give up, and some of them will make mistakes, and we’ll just make sure they have many bad days, and eventually they’ll get tired of fighting with us and we’ll get a team of brutal lawyers to take them down and put them in their place.”

At American Greatness, Max Martin has this rather withering comment to make:

At this moment [conservatives] are the weaker side in this asymmetric struggle. Right now, we are 80 million couch potatoes and keyboard warriors with rifles in our bedroom closets. This is not a force to be reckoned with.

Read the article to get the argument that leads him to that depressing conclusion.  Not part of his analysis, by the way, is that a large number of the so-called 80 million are a bunch of old bastards like myself, who have neither the health, energy nor will to do all the stuff he suggests we do to avoid being buried by the liberal ruling elite.

So what’s left?  DO we just resign ourselves to the fact that at some point, if we refuse to give in to the feral [sic] government, its rules, regulations and apparatchiks, we should just wait in our homes for the sturmtruppen  and Stasi to come for us, and then surrender meekly to be led off to Room 101?  Or, for those of us who have nothing to lose, resist with violence rather than just resign ourselves to our fate?

Let’s face it:  if the American Revolution was actively pursued and fought (by some estimates) by only 13% of the then-population of the soon-to-be United States, that means that the other 87% were either British loyalists or the 18th-century equivalent of couch potatoes.  That being the case, who is going to form the 13% of conservatives (10 million?  we should be so lucky) who would actively form the resistance against the fucking establishment?

Here’s the late Joseph Sobran on the topic:

“By today’s standards King George III was a very mild tyrant indeed. He taxed his American colonists at a rate of only pennies per annum. His actual impact on their personal lives was trivial. He had arbitrary power over them in law and in principle but in fact it was seldom exercised. If you compare his rule with that of today’s U.S. Government you have to wonder why we celebrate our independence…”

And if I may be so bold:  what’s facing us, as the de facto  survivors and supporters of the principles that formed our republic, is a far more formidable foe than George III.

  • They aren’t thousands of miles away over the ocean, with no communication other than written letters and ship-borne transmission.  They are right here, and their military force, communications and even media support are far, far greater than anything the British king had at his disposal.
  • Whereas George III and the British population may have had a relatively benign attitude towards those pesky columnists, our modern-day opponents actively hate us and think we should be exterminated — whether by shunning (of our voices and our access to communication), or in some extreme examples, killed.  (Lest I’m accused of being overwrought on this issue, let us remind ourselves that nobody dreamed that the oh-so civilized Germans, with their cultural history of Goethe and Schiller, would be capable of mass murder and genocide — except that they were.)
  • The Revolutionary army of 1776 was well armed for the time.  We have a few thousand committed riflemen, to be pitted against a modern army.  We can’t even drink beer when threatened by Meal Team Six, let alone withstand a sustained assault against our lives by a federal army such as FBI SWAT teams, DHS ditto, or even IRS agents.  They can concentrate their forces against us;  we can’t do the same against them.
  • Forget that shit about the U.S. Armed Forces being composed of supportive conservative warriors.  They aren’t any more, at least at the officer level.  If the government decided to use them against us, they will.  They’ve walked all over the Constitution in terms of our freedom of speech and they continue to do so on our right to bear arms;  so if you think a little thing like Posse Comitatus  is going to stand in their way, I have a New York bridge to sell you.
  • Most importantly of all:  we have no leaders.  Even if we did, the modern state can dispose of them with absolute ease and little fear of retribution:  our equivalent of John Hancock, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington wouldn’t last a day without being muzzled, arrested and imprisoned under the various anti-terrorism laws.

I wish I had something more upbeat to say about all this, but the reality is that I’m in the grip of a profound sense of gloomy foreboding.

On one hand, you have traditional Americans. They come in every race, creed, and religion. They believe in law and order, expect everyone to follow the rules, and mostly just want to be left alone.
Family-oriented, self-reliant, and armed, traditional Americans populate the working-class ranks of the military, law enforcement, and industry. Sadly, most are technically illiterate. They underestimate the threat from the surveillance state and Securitate. Many still believe the FBI only goes after bad guys, and they cannot grasp that the national security apparatus now views them as the enemy. They rightly bristle when slandered with “white supremacist” or “terrorist” labels. A habituated trust in authority makes them vulnerable to snitching on others and collaborating with those they shouldn’t. Many are infected with white knight conspiracy theories that counsel remaining submissive. In general, they have nearly zero control of the nation’s money, media, government, academia, legal system, and surveillance state.

On the other hand is the ruling elite. They advocate a multi-tiered justice system and expect others to follow their rules, beliefs, and norms. They are politically savvy and disciplined. They view traditional Americans and their beliefs as an impediment to their wealth and utopian dreams, going so far as routinely to advocate extreme actions such as genocide, re-education, and the removal of the children of their political opposition.
They employ proxy forces, such as Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and journalists to bully ordinary Americans and weak-willed corporations. In order to intimidate and discredit their political opposition, they’ve weaponized the use of labels such as “white supremacist” and “terrorist” on their enemies. They are generally opposed to religion and personal firearm ownership, and they cannot allow you to be left alone. They will attempt to nudge wrong-thinkers into accepting the ruling elite’s ideology. If that doesn’t work, they’ll force compliance via law enforcement, military, and the intelligence agencies they now command. They control most of the national wealth and all of the media, government, academia, legal authorities, and surveillance state.

Be warned:  much of that is not only difficult, but beyond the reach of average Americans like me.

Politics, Resistance, RINO/GOPe

…or, as George H.W. Bush used to say:  “Nah gunna do it.”

Once again, we are being implored to stop fighting among ourselves, with words such as:

There is much talk today about the splits in the Republican Party, though similar rifts plague the Democrats. But the sharpest, deepest divide remains between the two parties. Rarely in recent memory has it been so clear. Rarely has there been less of a center. Republicans must focus all their energy on regaining the majority in Congress.

Tell you what:  I’ll stop fighting with the GOPe / “centrist” Republicans when they stop acting as facilitators to the Socialists by “compromising” — i.e. yielding to the Socialists’ demands — when the Socialists seldom if ever make any concessions away from their Marxist agenda.

The Republicans’ most stunning success in recent years has been when conservatives act like, well, conservatives — ask Hillary Clinton — so the real concessions that the GOPe should be making are to us, the so-called “Trumpists*”, and not to the Marxists.

*The very next time a Republican refers derisively to a conservative as a “Trumpist”, I’m gonna give them a ball-kicking (or cunt-punt, depending on circumstances).  Leave the name-calling to the Marxists.

Gummint, Resistance

I don’t want anyone to read something sinister in what follows;  it’s simply a thought exercise.

A couple of days ago I read this article:

Two FBI special agents were fatally shot Tuesday morning while serving a warrant in Sunrise, the agency confirmed, calling it “a very dark day for the FBI.”

The agents, it turns out, were serving said warrant on some scrote who is a child molester and who did the right thing by offing himself after whacking the two feds, thus saving us all the hassle of a trial.  He’s not important to the story, so forget all about him.

The article’s headline is what caught my attention, because what it showed was just how easy it is to ambush law enforcement officers;  and what it reminded me of is a story of a WWII British fighter pilot who, during the dark days of 1940 when the Nazis had overrun Western Europe and were seemingly poised to invade Britain as well, went home for a brief bit of leave/furlough.  Sitting chatting with his father about the state of the world, he was surprised when his father asked him if he could get him a pistol or revolver.  When the pilot asked why, his father simply said:

“So I can get my one.”
“One what?”
“German.”

The old man, who’d fought in WWI, explained that he was too old to join a military unit, but he was determined to “do his bit” for the war effort, and had decided that if he and thousands of others could all just kill a single German each, the task of occupying Britain would be impossible.  The fact that he would almost certainly be killed in return didn’t bother him at all, because his death would be part of a greater good.  “After all,” he concluded, “if Britain is going to ask its young men like you to sacrifice themselves in this war, why shouldn’t we all be prepared to make the same sacrifice?  We’re all in this together, after all.”

What makes this subject so current is all the threats being oh-so cavalierly thrown our way by the Left, whether by loony Leftist politicians or by their equally-loony acolytes in the Press and academe, with talk of “deprogramming”, “universal gun confiscation” and the like — in other words, compelling those who disagree with their politics (the “seditionists” or “Trumpists”) to change their philosophy and/or behavior and be forced to show support for and comply with their ghastly policies and governance.

There sure is a lot of compulsion being talked about, isn’t there?  But none of that is possible in the face of a mass of people who, like the pilot’s father, are prepared to “get their one”.  That’s what Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn was lamenting when he wrote these words:

What would things been like [in Russia] if during periods of mass arrests people had not simply sat there, paling with terror at every bang on the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but understood they had nothing to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people?

Nowadays, of course, there’s a problem with Solzhenitsyn’s proposition in that the modern State knows so much about people that a concerted effort at resistance — even by half a dozen people — might well be anticipated and probably doomed to failure.  Efforts to create a “militia” or any kind of ur-Maquis French Resistance are going to be compromised by infiltration by law enforcement and subsequent destruction.

But if the above stories from Florida and WWII Britain tell us anything, it’s that properly-motivated individuals acting alone are quite capable of deadly resistance, even when facing the nigh-certain consequence of death for themselves.

It’s an interesting hypothesis, isn’t it?
