Wow… now this is interesting:

The federal government has broken the compact between the United States and the States. The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting States, including immigration laws on the books right now. President Biden has refused to enforce those laws and has even violated them. The result is that he has smashed records for illegal immigration.

Despite having been put on notice in a series of letters — one of which I delivered to him by hand — President Biden has ignored Texas’s demand that he perform his constitutional duties.

* President Biden has violated his oath to faithfully execute immigration laws enacted by Congress. Instead of prosecuting immigrants for the federal crime of illegal entry, President Biden has sent his lawyers into federal courts to sue Texas for taking action to secure the border.

* President Biden has instructed his agencies to ignore federal statutes that mandate the detention of illegal immigrants. The effect is to illegally allow their en masse parole into the United States.

* By wasting taxpayer dollars to tear open Texas’s border security infrastructure, President Biden has enticed illegal immigrants away from the 28 legal entry points along this State’s southern border– bridges where nobody drowns–and into the dangerous waters of the Rio Grande.

Under President Biden’s lawless border policies, more than 6 million illegal immigrants have crossed our southern border in just 3 years. That is more than the population of 33 different States in this country. This illegal refusal to protect the States has inflicted unprecedented harm on the People all across the United
States.

James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and the other visionaries who wrote the U.S. Constitution foresaw that States should not be left to the mercy of a lawless president who does nothing to stop external threats like cartels smuggling millions of illegal immigrants across the border. That is why the Framers included both Article IV, sec. 4, which promises that the federal government “shall protect each [State] against invasion,” and Article I, sec 10, Clause 3, which acknowledges “the States’ sovereign interest in protecting their borders.” Arizona v. United States, 567 U.S. 387, 419 (2012) (Scalia, J., dissenting).

The failure of the Biden Administration to fulfill the duties imposed by Article IV, sec. 4 has triggered Article I, sec. 10, Clause 3, which reserves to this State the right of self-defense. For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion under Article I, sec. 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself. That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary. The Texas National Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other Texas personnel are acting on that authority, as well as state law, to secure the Texas border.

Greg Abbott
Governor of Texas

Hehehehe… he said “triggered”.

USSC: Stop Doing That – Texas: Bite Me

Nothing like a little Fort Sumter-style action to brighten my day:

The Texas National Guard continued to install razor wire along the U.S.-Mexico border on Tuesday after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Biden administration could cut through or remove the razor wire.

“The Texas Military Department continues to hold the line in Shelby Park to deter and prevent unlawful entry into the State of Texas,” Texas said in a statement. “We remain resolute in our actions to secure our border, preserve the rule of law, and protect the sovereignty of our State.”

To make it quite clear:

“The State of Texas, under Gov. @GregAbbott_TX ’s Operation Lone Star, will maintain its current posture in deterring illegal border crossings by utilizing effective border security measures – reinforced concertina wire & anti-climb barriers along the Rio Grande. The logical concern should be why the Federal Government continues to hinder Texas’ ability to protect its border, all while allowing for the exploitation, dangerous, & inhumane methods of permitting illegal immigrants, including children, to illegally cross a dangerous river where many have lost their lives. Texas is the only state using every strategy & resource to protect its sovereignty, combat criminal activity, & discourage illegal immigration. #Texas will continue to hold the line.”

Works for me.  I think “Fuck you, feds” is in our state constitution somewhere.  If it isn’t, it could well be there after the next election.

Jokes aside, the interesting part of all this is a Constitutional one.

One of the primary functions of the federal government is to secure and maintain the nation’s borders against incursions from foreign nationals (hence the existence of a federal defense force and an immigration department).  If the federal government is failing in that duty, is it not the duty of the border states to fulfill that function?

Asking for a friend (in this case, TXGov Abbott).

And lastly, to the Supreme Court:

Fuck you, too.
(signed: the State of Texas)

What Constitution?

Seems like a couple of asshole socialist Congressmen [redundancy alert]  from (duh) Massachusetts and Maryland are going to try to subvert the Constitution by… banning militias?

Never mind that militias are specifically protected by the U.S. Constitution, and defined and entrenched in the U.S. Code as well.  Those are, to the would-be totalitarians like Markey and that other tool, just inconveniences to be brushed aside.  Here’s a choice bit:

“Patrolling neighborhoods, impeding law enforcement and storming the U.S. Capitol, private paramilitary groups like the Oath Keepers, the Three Percenters and the Proud Boys are using political violence to intimidate our people and threaten democratic government and the rule of law.”

Wait… the Oathies, Threepers and Proud Boys are paramilitary organizations now?  Here’s what they’re talking about:

The legislation creates different tiers of criminal penalties based on whether violations result in injury or property damage; provides harsher penalties for repeat offenders; and allows for a probationary sentence for first-time offenders. It also creates civil remedies by authorizing the Department of Justice to seek injunctive relief against paramilitary activity, and by creating a private right of action for individuals harmed by paramilitary activity to seek injunctive relief and/or damages.

I’m curious as to how these Commie legislators are going to sidestep Antifa and BLM, who are paramilitary groups:  uniforms, command structure, multi-state organization, very prone to violence and even at times, armed — and who routinely perpetrate actions that “result in injury or property damage”.  Will they be scooped up by this proposed legislation, do you think?  (Okay, you can stop that bitter laughter now.)

Whatever.  None of what these politicians are talking about in their little extra-Constitutional exercise should be supported, and I can only hope that it won’t be, even by RINO twerps like Susan Collins and her ilk.  But I fear for the worst.  Why?

Because, you see, this is what happens when one side of the aisle demonizes the other side successfully*:  all sorts of mischief can ensue as long as “public safety” can be trumpeted as the excuse, even when — as in the case of the three inept “rightwing”  organizations cited above — there is absolutely no circumstance or rationale under which they would behave in the manner feared.

Of course, the Left and their foot soldiers will be exempted and excused because MAGA… but you all knew that.

Range time?  I think so.  And I’m not a member of any organization such as the above.  But I am part of what can be described as the “citizen militia”, and unashamedly so.

*Here’s the international equivalent of demonizing (and eventually) criminalizing the opposition:

(link in headline)

Does everyone see the parallels, or do I have to spell them out?

Inspiring

I have often scoffed at people who build or live in houses located in a flood plain (or at least a place prone to occasional floods — not the same thing).  But here’s a story of a guy who did:

Nick Lupton, 60, and his wife Anne, 50, live in a converted 17th century house on the banks of the River Severn.  Since they moved into the four-bedroom detached property in Pixham, Worcestershire in 2016, the house and one-acre of land has been flooded 11 times.

But instead of weeping and wailing when his house was repeatedly underwater, he said, “Fuck this!”  and did something about it.

The couple became so fed up with the costly clear-ups, they decided to surround the entire property with a 7ft-high flood defence.  They spent four months constructing the brick barrier before finally finishing it last October – just weeks before Storm Henk swept Britain.

Here’s before:

And after:

The house itself?  Dry as a bone.  Read the whole story;  it’s excellent.  With more people like this, the Brits would still have an empire.

Of course, this being Britishland, when the flood waters go down the local council will doubtless tell him to tear the wall down because it ruins the character of the 17th-century house, or something.

But let me not be so cynical.

Prime Candidate

Well, I’d vote for her.

Born into extreme poverty in Ethiopia in 1978 or ’79, Pilip emigrated with her family to Israel at the age of 12.  W

hen she came of age, served a stint with the IDF’s elite paratroopers. She told JTA back in January that as a college student, she headed up the Ethiopian Student Union for two years. “I was a voice of so many young kids who wanted equal opportunity and really my main focus was especially education, because I do believe through education, you can achieve a lot and you can integrate into the society.”

While at the University of Haifa, she met an American-Ukrainian medical student named Adalbert Pilip. He’s now a successful cardiologist, she’s in politics, and together they have a huge family.

Lefties are practically wetting themselves because Pilip is an Orthodox Jewish Woman of Color Onetime Synagogue Vice President Former Machine-Gun Toting Paratrooper Mom of Seven. Any two of those items together is enough to make their heads explode, and she has four of five of them going on.

My kinda African.  AND she’s Tribe, so there’s a double whammy for the Commies.

In what passes for conservative politicians in New York, she’s a mega.  And I bet, MAGA as well;  because like me again, she’s seen what happens when your society goes to shit — hell, in her case, always was in shit — and will no doubt work to stop it happening here.

We can only hope.  In the meantime, the Commies’ heads are exploding — which is always a Good Thing.
