Quote Of The Day

Robert Ruark (Uhuru, The Honey Badger, Something Of Value, etc.) was always one of my favorite authors, as alone among many, he “got” Africa — in fact, I think he actually coined the expression “Africa wins again” in one of his more cynical moments.  Of course, he was a real hunter, so when it comes to hunting and guns, he should be carefully listened to.  This was sent to me by Mr. Free Market:

And here’s a picture of Ruark, with some of his guns:

From memory, after he died (at age 49, from cirrhosis of the liver) his estate contained well over fifty rifles, most of “African” calibers (.375 H&H, .470 NE, .404 Jeffery, .416 Rigby, etc., which gave credence to one of his other books, Use Enough Gun ) and an unknown number of handguns and shotguns.

Now I’m not saying we should all copy the great man;  but I am saying that if we do end up with a similar number in our collection, we should feel energized, not remorseful.  I remember my own situation, back in the day…

Not all of those were mine, but most were (all the Mausers, for example).

And for the record, I’ve never woken up in the morning hating myself for having purchased a gun the day before.   That’s certainly not true of women.

Quote Of The Day

Ooooo Insty’s being snarky, Insty is:

” Maybe responding to hysterical people is a bad basis for policy.”

He’s talking about flooding the schools with cops because of all the perceived dangers of school shootings, then pulling cops from schools altogether because cops are racist tools of Teh Patriarchy or some such bollocks.

Of course, the hair-on-fire shrieking Socialists (or Gummint bureaucrats, some overlap) are never going to let a good crisis go to waste, so if there’s no crisis they have to create one.  Evil bastards.

Quote Of The Day

From Hizzoner NYGov Cuomo [okay, quit that spitting] :

“The streets of New York are not the OK Corral, and the N.R.A.’s dream of a society where everyone is terrified of each other and armed to the teeth is abhorrent to our values.”

Just a point of clarification, Herr Gauleiter :  at the O.K. Corral, everyone was carrying a gun — and lest you forget, the outlaws lost.

Compare that to the mean streets of NYFC nowadays, where only the bad guys have guns… and the law-abiding citizens suffer.  Is that part of those “values”, too?  If so, I want nothing to do with them, or you.

Quote Of The Day

From Ace:

“There is no end to the wokification of hobbies. Cooking, knitting, Magic the Gathering, comic books, RPGs; movies and sports — the Nazi infiltrators take over each and every hobby and group to make sure you are never free of constant pro-Nazi propaganda messaging.”

Curiously, our shooting hobby seems to be more or less immune to this bullshit.

Although I expect that any day now, the NRA will issue a statement that they’ll be adding board members from the ranks of the Brady Foundation and Violence Policy Institute in the interests of “fairness” and because “all points of view are important”.

You heard it here first.

Quote Of The Day

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) joined demonstrators Saturday evening outside the police station in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, and told Americans to take to the streets unless Derek Chauvin is convicted for murder in the death of George Floyd.

“We’re looking for a guilty verdict. And we’re looking to see if all of the talk that took place and has been taking place after they saw what happened to George Floyd, if nothing does not happen, then we know that we’ve got to not only stay in the street, but we’ve got to fight for justice.”

I know that this is the moronic Maxine Waters speaking;  but I wonder if she is even aware that what she’s demanding — and the threat of what would happen should she not get her way — is the very essence of the word “terrorism”?
